Education

Currently, the ECAC student population consists of ten children ages three to eight years. Our students span the autism spectrum. Each student’s schedule is determined by his or her ability level and group classroom time is shared by students of similar cognitive, verbal and behavioral levels. Classrooms are not solely determined by age of students. Students divide their time between classroom activities and individual tutoring sessions, as determined by the student’s needs. The classroom curriculum and activities are consistent with the Verbal Behavior approach to Applied Behavior Analysis.

Classrooms have a minimum of two adult staff members, with at least one of them a certified teacher, BCBA, or BCABA. Individual tutoring time always consists of a 1:1 student-to-teacher ratio. Group time does not exceed a 3:2 student-to-teacher ratio.

Our School Year
ECAC operates year-round with breaks for holidays in order to balance our service across the calendar year and provide students’ families a reasonable opportunity to vacation. We provide services to students from 180-190 days per calendar year. The regular ECAC school calendar is Monday through Thursday for students, with Fridays reserved for employee training, field trips, or extra time with students as needed. The actual school hours of operation are 8:30am to 2:30pm, with staff on site for up to an hour before the beginning of operation and as late as 5:00pm for training, curriculum development and administrative work. Parents provide lunch, snacks, and edible reinforcers for their child.
