ABA Therapy

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy Program

ECAC is unique in our approach to teaching these individuals on the autism spectrum. All instruction and activities at ECAC are conducted in a manner consistent with the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). ABA Therapy is based on the science of behavior and is considered evidence-based treatment for individuals on the autism spectrum. Specifically, ECAC follows the Verbal Behavior (VB) approach to ABA, based on B.F. Skinner’s analysis of verbal behavior. ABA intervention is conducted in a one-to-one child-to-behavior technician ratio and focuses primarily on increasing communication and social skills, while decreasing problematic behaviors.

Other Programs

For those students not requiring our intensive ABA Therapy Program, we also offer academic classrooms through 6th grade with a 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio. These classrooms are separate from our intensive ABA Therapy Program and are housed in the Emerald Coast Learning Center (ECLC) building on our campus.

At ECLC we also offer a Transition to Work program for our older teens where they can learn vocational skills both at ECLC and at jobsites on the campus of Northwest Florida State College. Our goal is for our students to have the opportunity to learn the job skills needed to help them find a job that they love.
